OCEANO BRING MORE THAN BEEF WITH NEW ALBUM

The USDA wants you to know that Oceano is "bringing the beef." Okay, the USDA has nothing to do with the Chicago deathcore's motto of "brining the beef" but they should. Think about it USDA, sweet celebrity sponsors. Anyway, the guys will be bringing more than beef this year when they head into the studio to record their sophomore album. The new LP is going to be a more mature experience than their debut album Depths so look out for it.

In the meantime, check out Oceano when they come to Metro on February 13th with Monsters, Dorian's Decay, Elysion Fields, and The Beauty of Bloodshed. Tickets are still available for the all ages show that starts at 6pm.

NEW VIDEO: ST. VINCENT

St. Vincent - "Laughing With a Mouth of Blood"

Our favorite DIY indie queen, Ms. Annie Clark a.k.a St. Vincent, just released a video for her new single, "Laughing with a Mouth of Blood." The video features the comedy team thunderAnt ["Saturday Night Live"-er Fred Armisen and ex Sleater-Kinney member Carrie Brownstein] as some pretty ridiculous bookstore owners hosting St. Vincent's in-store.

While not all musicians have comedic timing or can actually act [Mariah Carey in "Glitter" anyone], Clark is great in the clip. Take a look at the full size video here before you get your tickets for the February 18th show at Metro.

SLAUTER XSTROYES: A QUARTER-CENTURY OF ROCK

Twenty-five years ago, Chicago-based metal band Slauter Xstroyes released 500 copies of their debut album, Winter Kill. At the time, the little-known band had no idea that their first album would become the stuff of metal legends. As years passed Winter Kill came to be regarded as an epic metal masterpiece, and copies of the original limited release became "holy grail (of) metal vinyl ultra-rarities." Realizing how coveted their debut had become, Slauter Xstroyes made it a little easier on fans old and new and re-released Winter Kill on CD in 2009.

To celebrate their long-awaited notoriety, the band has reformed and will play a set of their beloved oldies as well as as new material at Metro this Friday, February 5. Joining Slauter Xtsroyes are Septer, Mindwarp Chamber, Trials, and Rival. Tickets are available now, but sign up for Metro text alerts to get in free before 9pm.

LOS CAMPESINOS! PROVE ROMANCE ISN'T BORING

Los Campesinos! want you to know that they're not knee deep in sexual favors. Unlike what an article in America's Finest News Source, The Onion, suggests, not all musicians are getting "fellated." Of course the Welsh indie pop band has a few other things to share with you; namely their new album, Romance is Boring, and what went into writing and recording it. To get everything out in the open and to talk about the new album, Tom Campesinos of Los Campesinos! sat down with the AV Club in an interview. Tom talks about everything from whether or not romance really is boring to well... the aforementioned Onion article.

Check out the AV Club interview here then grab tickets to see Los Campensinos! live at Metro on April 30th.

YEASAYER: IN STUDIO AND AT METRO

There's no better way to amp up excitement for a forthcoming sophomore effort than to whet fans' appetites with some early bonus material. Just ask Twilight fans. For those of us who prefer real-life rock n' rollers to sparkly mythical creatures, Pitchfork has it covered. The online source for all things awesome has just posted a video that follows Yeasayer as they work on their second full-length album, Odd Blood.

Odd Blood will be released on February 9, just enough time to get to know Yeasayer a little better via Pitchfork, learn the album start to finish, and come to Metro to sing along on April 29th. Yeasayer will be joined by Sleigh Bells for the 18 & over show. Tickets are available now.

SATURDAY: THE HUDSON BRANCH

Do you remember that one guy who could pick up any instrument and learn to play it in 5 minutes? This was the same guy who played everything from upright bass to the theremin. Now, imagine that guy times five and you've got The Hudson Branch. They've picked up the melodica, trombone, glockenspiel and tons of other instruments and will be bringing them (and a new album) to Metro for a show this Saturday.

Tickets are still available for the January 30th all ages show. Get them online in advance using the password METROHB and pay just 6 bucks!
